Made-to-Measure Suit Quality Control: A Retailer’s Checklist
A repeatable receiving and pre-delivery inspection checklist for made-to-measure garments.
Verify identity before workmanship
First confirm customer, garment type, fabric code, lining, buttons and monogram. A beautifully made garment in the wrong cloth is still a failed order. Keep the approved PI available during inspection.
Inspect construction systematically
Check symmetry, seam appearance, lapel roll, pocket alignment, button security, lining attachment, pressing and visible marks. Measure the agreed control points using the same method used during ordering. Small tolerances may be normal, but the supplier and retailer should agree how they are assessed.
- Correct fabric and trims
- Key finished measurements
- Left-right symmetry
- Clean finish and pressing
- Customer-specific details
Classify issues before responding
Separate manufacturing defects, measurement discrepancies, customer preference changes and transit damage. Photograph the full garment, the affected area and the measurement method. Clear evidence helps the supplier choose an alteration, remake or other resolution quickly.
